Edition 015 · interactive demo

Four documents. One truth, or none.

Every quarter the same numbers leave the building four times — to the board, to the lender, to the investors, to the auditor — and each version is assembled by hand from the last one. That is where the classic failure lives: the same figure, stated differently in two documents, found by someone outside the firm. The fix isn't more careful reviewing. It is one source of facts, four angles on it, and a handful of rules enforced at the exit where they cannot be forgotten.

Honest-AI note. No model runs here, and none should — this is deterministic assembly, which is exactly the point: the parts of a reporting pipeline that must never improvise should not be given to something that improvises. The four documents below are generated live from the source panel on the left. Change a number there and all four move. Then switch on a "break" and watch the build refuse — not warn, not correct silently: refuse, and name the rule.

The four packs

Try to bend one pack

01Facts in one place, angles in another

Every figure, once. What changes per audience is selection, order and framing — never the number. Maintaining four documents means maintaining four drifts.

02Say it twice, and it's a rule in code

The second time a rule has to be explained, it stops being documentation and becomes an assertion at the exit. Throw; never quietly correct — a silent fix teaches nobody and hides the case you hadn't thought of.

03The audience decides the disclosure

Some figures are entitled to some readers. Marking them at the source and checking the class on the way out is the only version of this that survives a rushed Friday.

Plain-language key (source of truth, pack, angle, covenant certificate, disclosure class)
Source of truth
The one place a fact is written down. Everything published derives from it, so correcting it once corrects everything.
Pack
A document assembled for one audience — board, lender, investor, auditor.
Angle
What a pack is allowed to vary: which lines appear, in what order, with what framing. Never the values.
Covenant certificate
The quarterly statement to a lender that each tested covenant was met. Its value depends on it being complete — an omitted line is not brevity, it is a defect.
Disclosure class
A label on each figure saying who may see it, checked mechanically as the document is produced.
